Tentative Programme

Day 1

10:00h to 14:00h

Level: Application oriented / Low-technical level.

-Early history psycho-lexical approach up to the first formulation of the Big Five model.
-Taxonomy of traits.
-Modern history of the lexical approach, leading to the development of some 30 indigenously developed trait-taxonomies.
-Discussion of the principles of the psycho-lexical approach (the lexical hypothesis)


Day 2

10:00h to 14:00h

Level: Application oriented / Low-technical level.

-Competing systems of trait description: Early and recent models. Relations with Big Five.
-Representation of factor results: simple structure models, circumplex models, and integration of the two models.
-Application of lexical principles to other domains of investigation: values, interpersonal behavior.


Day 3

10:00h to 14:00h

Level: Application oriented / Low-technical level.

-Variations with One- up to Eight-factor models of traits, and their use across the borders.
-Comparing trait-structures from various languages. Applications of Procrustes procedure.


Day 4

10:00h to 14:00h

Level: Application oriented / Low-technical level.

Various issues: self-/ other-ratings; raw data or ipsatized data; rating styles, social desirability.


Day 5

10:00h to 14:00h

Level: Application oriented / Low-technical level.

A consensual model/inventory of personality traits; a research proposal.
